Great food!! I would highly recommend. The fried pickles are great, burgers are delicious, Reuben's are tasty, and Cajun fries are a must try! Been looking for a place around here with this kind of great tasting grub.

Loved It! Homemade banana pudding was super yummy and my husbands breakfast was picture perfect. If you are in a quick hurry then you may want to call in a carry out ahead of time only because they are SO awesome that they make your food fresh when ordered. A lot of the menu consists of homemade items. We've only heard excellent things about this place since they opened, so we had to try it and we're glad we did. Can't wait to go back and try the fried pickles (which we were told even the pickles are handmade). Stuffed Burgers, Fresh Cut Fries, Homemade Potato Chips are just a few other items that sounded awesome on the menu. Ok, now I'm hungry. The only negative is that they're not open 24 hrs so I could go there right now :-)

I've been to Syd's 3 times now -- twice for breakfast and today, for lunch. The food is fresh and made to order, and because of that (and the fact that I think there's only 1 cook), it does take a while, depending on what you order. The breakfast choices are pretty much the usual, and they're fine. Not outstanding, but good. Today, I went there for lunch. I was the only customer in the restaurant. (I specifically went there because I wanted to support an independent place and not a chain.) I ordered the hamburger stuffed with spinach & Swiss cheese, and one of the options for a side dish was macaroni & cheese, for $1 more. The server told me that it would take 10-15 minutes. It took at least 20, but as I wasn't in a hurry, I didn't mind. Still, it made me wonder what they would do if there were several customers there at the same time. The burger was good, although it needed a bit of salt, which was very unusual, as I rarely put salt on my food -- especially meat. And while the spinach & cheese were definitely there, it didn't add much flavor to the burger. Still, it was a good burger and definitely handmade -- no pre-formed patties here. The mac & cheese came in a little soup cup and it was VERY hot. I actually had to wait a while to eat it. It was quite tasty, but not as smooth as I would've expected. (Mac & cheese is one of those things I can't seem to master making myself.) Syd's is a good choice if you have a bit of time and don't want the pre-fabricated food that most restaurants serve. And it's an especially good choice if you're looking to support a local business.

Sadly, there wasn't enough business for his really good food, and he had to close for a while. Now, he's reopened with a very limited menu of basically hamburgers, hot dogs, one chicken breast option, no other sandwiches, no salads, no soups, (though the chili is very good) & no breakfast. You have to have a taste for those specific items or don't bother going. It's sad because his food was really good and the breakfasts were wonderful.

I have lived in the area since 1999 and have been struggling to find a good local diner. Based on our first visit I am very pleased with this restaurant. We had the fried pickles, a couple of stuffed burgers, a regular burger and a Ruben. The pickles are made (pickled) buy the restaurant as was the sublime dipping sauce. The burgers were above average and according to my wife the Reuben sandwich was spot on. The desserts are also made in house and I loved the tartness of the cherry pie. You should give this new hidden gem a try. Not your normal reheated frozen food of the back of a Sysco truck, that is for sure.

Ordered a single burger with grilled onions and coleslaw. Bill was ~$4.50. A bargain for this area where a simple burger seems to be held in higher regard than gold. There was only one person working, so he took my order, prepared the food and made change for me. He was also very pleasant and courteous. The meal was prepared in a timely fashion even though he was helping a larger table that was there as well. The burger was really good especially with the pickles they used, not too sour and a special tang. The grilled onions were a great addition. My only complaint was the meat was maybe more well done than I prefer, but it is hard to get anything red in the center anymore. The coleslaw was decent, sweet and creamy. It was better with some added salt and pepper, but merely a preference of mine. Look forward to going back again sometime and trying out some of their other dishes.
